About the concert
With Wayne Snow, there’s no playing it soft.
His music challenges the rules, escaping every pigeonhole by combining rebellious energy with a deeply rooted sense of identity. Born in Nigeria and raised on artists such as Fela Kuti, King Sunny Adé and Marvin Gaye, Wayne Snow has, over the years, clearly turned towards Afrofuturism.
His debut release, Freedom TV, was already a manifesto of artistic freedom – an eclectic mix of genres that won praise from Clash, MOJO, Vice and Boiler Room. Then came his first full-length album: on Figurine, released in 2021, he searched for new forms and an entirely personal means of expression.
The result was Afrofuturism that, in Wayne Snow’s hands, is neither smooth nor dreamy – it comes across rather as a deeply personal statement built on rebellion against the rules. Soul reprogrammed for a strange, electrifying present.
His latest album, Snowdome (2025), which he brings to Scena MONK in March, is his boldest and rawest statement yet.
