The Necks, the cult trio from Down Under, perform at Scena MONK.

Formed in Sydney in 1987, the band has released more than 20 studio albums and worked with artists such as Brian Eno, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Swans. On stage, Chris Abrahams (piano), Tony Buck (drums) and Lloyd Swanton (double bass) create a chemistry that can’t be captured in traditional musical categories.

This time, set aside more of your evening for MONK. The Necks’ compositions unfold over long minutes, building tension through groove, polyrhythm and texture. Each one slowly reveals new layers: it isn’t minimalism, ambient or jazz, but a hypnotic immersion that The New York Times called the work of “one of the greatest bands on Earth”.
