About the concert
Born in Maceió, the coastal capital of the Brazilian state of Alagoas, Nyron Higor represents a new generation of Brazilian artists quietly transforming the country’s musical landscape. As a composer and multi-instrumentalist, Nyron has become a key figure in a remarkable creative community flourishing in north-eastern Brazil.
His music draws richly on deep regional roots: the pulsing rhythms of forró and frevo from Alagoas and Pernambuco, the melodic phrasing of bossa nova and melancholic maracatu, which he blends and interweaves with global influences – Nigerian highlife, American jazz and even rap.
Together with fellow Maceió natives Bruno Berle and Batata Boy, as well as artists such as Phylipe Nunes Araújo from Pernambuco, Nyron creates music that respects regional traditions while embracing modern currents, arrangements and production techniques.
