About the concert
After two albums warmly received in Poland and abroad, the Tricity duo of Piotr Kaliński (Hatti Vatti, Hinode Tapes) & Stefan Wesołowski (violinist and composer) return to premiere their third album, Luna.
Nanook of the North’s music combines classical elements with spacious electronic landscapes – raw, minimalist, almost without drums, inspired by primal nature. Heide was recorded in winter in a village surrounded by forests in northern Poland, with musical motifs ranging from John Carpenter-style synths to neoclassical depth. Luna continues in this direction.
They have played in the USA, Europe and Japan, and earned recognition from Boiler Room, The Wire and NPR. Bob Boilen of Tiny Desk called their SXSW show a “wow moment”. Denovali Records: CD, vinyl, download. Press: “Haunting, deeply moving” (XLR8R), “Sparse and glacial melodies” (MOJO), “Truly sublime” (Electronic Sound).
