When you trust your instincts, you let your most natural inclinations carry you. Then you have no choice – you have to be honest.

That’s the starting point for Michael Mayo – singer, composer and songwriter, whose new album (Fly, 2024) was made in just two days. Creative reinterpretations of jazz standards, deftly combined with neo-soul vocals and elements of R&B, make Mayo’s music a treat for seasoned jazz fans and catchy for a wide Tricity audience alike.

Michael Mayo is a graduate of the elite Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance – only the third vocalist accepted into the programme in 20 years. His stunning vocal technique and boundless creativity have caught the attention of giants of the scene: he has performed with Herbie Hancock, Ben Wendel and Kneebody.

“I want to play with cool people, travel the world and bring some light,” says the artist – and we can’t wait for Gdańsk’s Scena MONK to glow with Michael Mayo’s April light.
