About the concert
Jasmine Myra is a saxophonist, composer and bandleader based in Leeds. She is part of the city’s vibrant, creative cross-genre music scene, surrounding herself with the best young talent from the north of England. Her original instrumental music has a euphoric, uplifting sound, inspired by artists as diverse as Bonobo, Ólafur Arnalds and Kenny Wheeler – artists whose music shares an emotional quality that can also be heard in Myra’s own compositions.
She recently signed to Gondwana Records and works with A&R and producer Matthew Halsall, whose keen ear for talent helped bring the music of GoGo Penguin, Mammal Hands and Hania Rani to a wider audience.
