About the concert

‍

March evenings in Gdańsk are hard to predict. They can be as gusty as a bebop rhythm, but the air can also settle into the quiet reverie of the old town’s misty alleys. To capture this duality, we’ve invited to Scena MONK the trio of Francesca Tandoi, hailed by critics and fellow musicians as a rising star of jazz.

Within a few years she has won international acclaim as a top-class pianist and singer, performing with jazz stars and playing prestigious festivals and clubs around the world. Although critics often compare her to swing legends such as Oscar Peterson and Monty Alexander, Tandoi has developed a unique, recognisable style.

Her latest album, “Bop Web – Nuccia Live”, recorded with guitarist Matheus Nicolaiewsky and drummer Sander Smeets during a live session at Nuccia Studio in Rome, is a vibrant record of six tracks – from Tandoi’s original compositions to standards such as “Agua de Beber”.
