About the concert

EABS probably need no introduction to our regulars, but since this is their debut at Scena MONK, a few sentences are in order. Since 2012, this musical hadron collider has systematically torn down and rebuilt: breaking decades-old classics down to atoms and smashing them into the impulses of contemporary urban music.

EABS – Electro-Acoustic Beat Session – is a quintet acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, touring all over the world. International recognition came with the releases Repetitions (Letters to Krzysztof Komeda) and Slavic Spirits. Their album In Search of a Better Tomorrow (2023) made The Guardian’s list of The Best Global Albums.

Their latest, sixth record – Reflections of Purple Sun – is an introspection into the work of Tomasz Stańko. Recorded in his flat in Warsaw’s Powiśle district, it combines jazz motifs from the Purple Sun album, released half a century ago, with new directions and a contemporary musical aesthetic.
