About the concert
They say the guitar is back in favour – and Charlie Hunter is certainly one of its leading apostles. He is famous for playing bass lines, melody and chords all at once, and his custom eight-string guitar has become his trademark.
Hunter blends jazz, funk, blues and rock, which has made him one of the most distinctive guitarists of his generation. Over a 35-year career he has released many albums and worked with a wide range of artists, from leading jazz figures (Joshua Redman, Kurt Elling) to artists at the crossroads of jazz, soul and R&B (Norah Jones, Frank Ocean).
He still tours extensively, playing major international festivals and renowned clubs (such as Scena MONK, wink wink), and runs his own label, SideHustle Records, supporting and promoting young artists.
Check it out if you like: Norah Jones, Jamie Cullum, John Mayer.
