About the concert

‍

Alberto Continentino is a figure it’s hard to imagine contemporary Brazilian music without: an amazing bassist, innovative composer and visionary producer. Born into a family of musicians, he grew up surrounded by jazz and Brazilian popular music (MPB). As a teenager he discovered a knack for the bass guitar and quickly became one of the most sought-after session musicians in the country.

At 20, Alberto was touring the world with Caetano Veloso – the start of a remarkable career that includes collaborations with Brazilian legends (Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Marcos Valle) as well as today’s stars (Ana Frango Elétrico, Baco Exu do Blues, Dora Morelenbaum). Although for years he was a member of +2’s – the collective formed by Moreno Veloso, Domenico Lancellotti and Kassin – it is his solo work that truly reveals Continentino’s full creative potential. His third album, released in June 2025 on Selo RISCO / Mad About Records, shows Alberto’s further evolution, this time into experimental dreamy pop-jazz woven around the poetry of Silvia Machete and Negro Leo.
