About the concert
Aaron Parks in Gdańsk. One of the most original voices in contemporary jazz comes to Scena MONK with his band Little Big.
“Aaron Parks Little Big”, described by PopMatters as “what jazz can be in the 21st century”, released its debut album at the end of 2018. The follow-up, “Little Big II: Dreams of a Mechanical Man”, came out two years later to critical acclaim and was followed by “Aaron Parks Little Big III”, released on Blue Note Records.
Parks’s music seamlessly blends modern jazz, indie rock and Eastern motifs into a unique, personal sound. The band’s playing can be summed up in three phrases: lyrical beauty, rhythmic complexity and harmonic finesse.
“While this record feels the most limber and alive,” says Parks, “it’s also the most focused album Little Big has made so far – the most distilled to its essence.”
